YAAD is a term in the Caribbean meaning "home". Our cuisine represents the savory flavors found in many homes around the Caribbean. Caribbean cuisine regions range from Jamaica to Puerto Rico and include common flavors found in Cuba, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad and the Bahamas. The Flavors and blends of Caribbean Cuisine is a fusion of East Indian, African, European and Chinese cuisine, making it an excellent choice for food lovers.
Meet The Chef
Co-founder of the Caribbean House, Chef Devo, relocated from his childhood home in Jamaica to Connecticut as a teenager, and has lived in New York and Florida, but now calls Austin home. His move to South Florida is where he got the opportunity to work with various caterers gaining knowledge and insight about creating Caribbean cuisine that would appeal to the palates of a multicultural community. Chef credits his passion for culinary to helping others learn about diverse cultures through food. He has spent over 17 years in the food industry. Many of his cuisines incorporate Indian and Asian influences which is a reflection of his diverse heritage. Over the years he has catered weddings, private parties, baby showers, real estate functions, photo shoots, pageants, corporate luncheons and many other occasions.
